Goo Goo Dolls have “Something For the Rest Of Us” on summer tour

2010 is looking like a very productive year for the Goo Goo Dolls. Not only are they due to kick off their 30-city North American tour tomorrow, but they’ve also got a new album coming out in August!

The Goo Goo Dolls tour kicks off on June 25 in San Diego and runs through Sept. 5 in Newfoundland. The last U.S. tour date is Aug. 29 in Los Angeles.

Their new studio album, Something For the Rest Of Us, is set to release on Aug. 31. So far, one single–”Home”–has been released from the album. You can listen to that song here.

Goo Goo Dolls New Album Coming Soon

The Goo Goo Dolls are currently in post production for their new album, Something For The Rest Of Us, set to be released in late spring 2010.  You can also find the Goo Goo Dolls on the road across the eastern United States now until May.

The Goo Goo Dolls are a rock trio from Buffalo, NY, that formed in 1986, deep in the punk scene of the time.  Their main influences include The Replacements, Husker Du, The Clash, and Elvis Costello.  The band got their name from a True Detective ad, calling for a Goo Goo Doll.  Singer and band frontman John Rzeznik jokes that if he had five more minutes he would have definitely picked a better name.  But for some reason, it stuck.

The Goo Goo Dolls moved towards a more polished musical sound with the success of “Name,” from the album A Boy Named Goo.  But it wasn’t until the release of “Iris,” written for The City of Angels soundtrack did the Goo Goo Dolls achieve rock star status.

Goo Goo Dolls tickets are available now for their tour, which will include playing live at several festivals such as the Azalea Festival in North Carolina, the Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis, and the Schaeffer Crawfish Boil in Alabama.    Check them out live this spring and keep an eye out for the new album coming out soon!
